The roots of the higher education tradition in the field of hard sciences, including mathematics and physics, go back centuries.
Physics means "nature" in Greek language also because it deciphers the mysteries of this world, from quarks to the stars, it remains the queen of sciences. The Faculty of Physics proposes to open up a new perspective on the role of physics and of a physicist in our current world.
The Faculty of Physics offers undergraduate programmes of 3 years in the following specialisations: Physics, Medical Physics, Computational Physics, and of 4 years in Technological Physics.
After obtaining an undergraduate degree students can opt for one of the master's specialisations of the faculty, of two years, in the following fields: Solid Body Physics, Biophysics and Medical Physics, Computational Physics

Selection criteria for all specialisations

  • High school graduates holding a baccalaureate diploma will sit a written examination and the admission score will be calculated according to the following algorithm:

    ADMISSION SCORE = 0.5 X BACCALAUREATE SCORE* + 0.5 X WRITTEN TEST SCORE

    * For the BACCALAUREATE SCORE the candidate can opt for one of the following: the baccalaureate average score or the baccalaureate exam grade in physics, informatics, or mathematics.
  • The Faculty of Physics acknowledges the Augustin Maior Physics Competition, school Olympiads and a series of competitions for high school students as an alternative admission method (details in the Faculty of Physics Addendum to the Regulation for organising and conducting the undergraduate level admission examination).

*Applicants may apply to any programme taught in Romanian, and ranking will be determined at the faculty level. Faculties reserve the right to limit the maximum number of places allocated to ethnic minorities for each programme or to restrict access to specific programmes.
